Setup Guide for R4i Gold 3DS Card (r4ids.cn)

Important:

Please note that not every R4i Gold 3DS Card (r4ids.cn) needs firmware fix!

Please follow the R4i Gold 3DS Driver Setup Guide to setup the card first.

If you get the error message like this :

An error has occured. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for details.

Please check the firmware version of your DSi or 3DS according to these two steps:

Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x.x

Then choose the correspondent firmware fix guide below to upgrade your R4i Gold 3DS Card (r4ids.cn) to be compatible with your DS console.

DS Compatibility

The following consoles are supported: DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL & 3DS.

For DSi & DSi XL, the supported firmware versions are: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.4.1 , 1.4.2 & 1.4.3.

For 3DS, the supported firmware versions are: 1.0.0 , 2.0.0, 2.1.0, 2.2.0-4, 3.0.0-5 & 3.0.0-6

Preparation (Checklist Before Installation)

a) After inserting the microSD into the card reader, go to My Computer.

b) Right click the driver representing the microSD memory card.

c) Choose Format

d) Click Start to format the memory card in FAT32

Using Panasonic Memory Card Format Software

Note: If your memory cards have capacity bigger than 32GB, please download the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards Format Software. If your memory cards have capacity equal or smaller than 32GB, please download the SD/SDHC Memory Cards Format Software. Detailed guide is available from the SD Association here. Insert SD/SDHC Memory Card into reader/writer.
Click on [Start], point to [All Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [SD Formatter VX.X], and click on [SD Formatter VX.X].
1. “X.X” means the version number of SD Memory Card Formatting Software.
2. If “User Account Control” window is displayed on the screen, please click on [Arrow].
The main window is displayed on the screen.
Select the target drive by drive list and check SD/SDHC Memory Card size.
Click on [Format].
After clicking on it, confirmation window is displayed on the screen. Here, if [OK] is clicked, this software executes the format operation. On the contrary, if [Cancel] is clicked, this software cancels the format operation and returns to the main window.
The following status window is displayed on the screen during the format operation. Note: [Cancel] on this window is available only if either “FULL (Erase ON)” or “FULL (Erase OFF)” is selected as format type option. If “QUICK” is selected as format type option, this button is not available.
After the format operation completion, click [OK] and remove the Memory Card from your PC.
Reinsert the memory card to the PC to start using the memory card.

Using Mac Memory Card Format Tool

Plug your memory card reader into a USB port on your Mac. Insert the microSD / microSDHC card into the memory card reader's microSD / microSDHC slot, and the microSD / microSDHC card will mount on your Mac desktop.
In an open Finder window, single-click "Applications" in the Side-Bar and scroll down to find the Utilities folder. Find Disk Utility in the Utilities folder and double-click the "Disk Utility" application to launch it.
In the opened Disk Utility application, single-click to select the microSD / microSDHC card in the left-hand Drives column. Then, single-click to select the "Erase" button in the top row of radio buttons. Select the format MS-DOS (FAT) to format the microSD / microSDHC card on the "Volume Format" pop-up button. When you have finished selecting the formatting options, click "Erase."
A new dialogue box will pop up in "Disk Utility," asking if you are sure you wish to erase the microSD / microSDHC card. Caution: Erasing the microSD / microSDHC card will permanently erase any files. Make sure you have backed up any file you wish to keep. To continue with the formatting process, click "Erase."
Once the microSD / microSDHC card has been erased, it will mount on your Mac desktop just as any other removable drive.

R4i Gold 3DS Firmware Fix for 3DS V3.0.0-6E

Great news! R4i Gold 3DS can support the newest 3DS 3.0.0-6E successfully!

Please take note that the upgrade for 3DS V3.0.0-6 needs to be done on DSi / DSi XL console with a firmware version 1.4.3 or below.

1. Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC

a. Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.

b. Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will have

R4iGold_3DS2.2_Patch	Wood_R4iGold_V1.40b
3DS22Patch_R4iGold3DS_NDSi.nds 3DS22Patch_R4iGold3DS_NDSL.nds readme.txt	__rpg _DS_MENU.DAT changelog.txt readme.txt

2. Copy all the above seven unzipped files onto the root of the micro SD/SDHC card after format the micro SD card in FAT32.

3. Plug in the Micro SD/SDHC card to the R4i Gold 3DS card. Insert the R4i Gold with the micro SD/SDHC into the slot 1 of the DS console. Turn on the DS console.

4. Select the icon on your console below

5. Select the correspondent firmware file by pressing A.

For DSi (XL): 3DS22Patch_R4iGold3DS_NDSi.nds

6. When you get the following screen, please read every word carefully before upgrading.

7. Please press button A to continue and leave the console alone in a flat place until the upgrade is done.

8. The following screen shows that The R4i Gold 3DS card has been upgraded successfully.

9. Once the update is finished, you can use the R4i Gold 3DS card with the same micro SD card on your 3DS 3.0.0-6e to test if the card has been updated successfully.

R4i Gold 3DS Firmware Fix for DSi V1.4.3

Great news! R4i Gold 3DS can support the newest DSi V1.4.3 successfully!
Important: if you want to update you R4i Gold 3DS card on your DSi / DSi XL with firmware 1.4.3, you need a DSi (XL) console with a firmware version 1.4.1.

1. Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC

a. Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.

b. Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will have

2. Copy all the above eight unzipped files to the root of the micro SD/SDHC memory card.

3. Plug in the Micro SD/SDHC to the R4i Gold. Insert the R4i Gold with the microSD/SDHC into the slot 1 of the DS console. Turn on the DS console.

If you can see the following after you insert the R4i Gold 3DS into the slot-1 of the DSi, that means the R4i Gold 3DS has not been flashed yet. Please follow Step 4 to go on the upgrading.

If you can see the following icon, good news for you. Your R4i Gold 3DS has been flashed. Please copy your own data to the Micro SD/SDHC memory card and enjoy the ultimate fun brought by R4i Gold 3DS.

4. Select the correspondent firmware file by pressing A.

For DSi (XL): V143_Patch_R4iGold3DS_NDSi.nds

5. When you get the following screen, please read every word carefully before upgrading.

6. Please press button A to continue and leave the console alone in a flat place until the upgrade is done.

7. The following screen shows that The R4i Gold 3DS card has been upgraded successfully. Congratulation! Please restart the DSi / DSi XL now.

8. The icon on the main menu has been changed to the following icon. The icon means you have upgraded the R4i Gold 3DS Firmware successfully.

Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC
1. Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.
2. Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will have ：

Select all the above four unzipped files and copy them to the microSD memory card
Copy your own files, including music, movies, pictures and other data to the Micro SD/SDHC memory card.
Plug in the Micro SD/SDHC to the R4i Gold. Insert the R4i Gold with the microSD into the slot 1 of the DS console. Turn on the DS console.
You will see the WARNING – HEALTH AND SAFETY message. Touch the touch screen or press button A to continue.
For DSi or DSi XL, you will see the following icon with the name MEET THE ROBINSONS DISNEY. Please touch the icon or press button A to continue.
Wait for the R4i Gold to load.
Congratulation if you have come this far as you have successfully set up your R4i Gold. There you go. Enjoy your DS with the multimedia functions.
If the screen is stuck with the ‘Loading’message, it is due to the wrong driver being used. Please check the Software Preparation at the top of this guide and re-do the software download & installation.

Nintendo has just blocked flasharts on the 3DS yet again with the release of firmware update 3.0.0-6. However, it does not seem like all flashcarts have been affected. The following flashcarts with the latest driver installed from the respective manufacturers have been confirmed to be compatible with the firmware 3.0.0-6:

Important

If your R4i SDHC 3DS / R4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn) / R4i Gold 3DS (r4i-gold.eu) / Acekard 2i / R4i Gold Plus / M3i Zero / DSTWO / DSONEi Mini supports 3DS 2.2.0 – 4 or 3.0.0-5, it can work directly on 3DS 3.0.0-6 with the latest driver installed.

1. R4i SDHC 3DS

Please download and install the latest driver “R4i-3DS V1.51b English”.

2. R4i Gold 3DS (r4ids.cn)

Please download and install the latest driver “Wood R4iGold V1.42”.

Please download and install the latest driver “AKAIO.1.8.9”.

5. SuperCard DSTWO

Please download and install the latest driver “R4i-3DS V1.57b English”.

Please download and install the latest driver “G6&M3DS-R_M74”.

U = United States

Firmware Fix for “Loading” Stuck R4i Gold 3DS by r4ids.cn

R4ids.cn released special patch for those red – "Loading" stuck R4i Gold 3DS cards.

Please follow the step-by-step update guide to fix your “loading” stuck R4i Gold 3DS card.

1. Preparation:

NDS Lite console (borrow one from others if you don't have one)
One working non-R4i Gold 3DS flashcard (called "A" -like R4, TT, AK2, M3 or DSTWO, etc)

2. Download the latest WOOD R4 firmware here.

3. Unzip the patch and copy "Patch_R4iGold3DS_xmas_NDSL.nds" onto the root of your memory card.

4. Just power your NDSL on and boot up Patch_R4iGold3DS_xmas_NDSL.nds with "A" card.

5. Take "A" card out of the NDSL.

6. Reinsert your broken R4i Gold 3DS card into the NDSL.

7. Press KEY_A and the updating process will begin.

8. You should keep your NDSL powered on during the updating process.

9. IF the result shows SUCCESS, it means you have updated your R4i Gold 3DS successfully and this card can work on DSi V1.4.3 and 3DS V2.2.0-4 and V3.0.0-5.

R4ids.com just has released the kernel v1.9 for R4i GOLD PLUS card.

With the new kernel v1.9 installed correctly, the R4i Gold Plus card supports the latest firmware 3DS 3.0.0-5 directly without doing any upgrade. Besides, the kernel updates the cheat database and adds the sports car theme skin. Last but not least, it fixes many application compatibilities.
