Nintendo has just blocked flasharts on the 3DS yet again with the release of firmware update 3.0.0-6. However, it does not seem like all flashcarts have been affected. On July 26, 2011, 3DS network rolled out the fourth firmware upgrade since the 3DS debut in Feb 2011. Looking at the firmware update history of the 3DS, it seems that the trend going forward is frequent firmware update on a monthly basis.
3DS firmware update history:
It has been rumoured that Supercard DSTWO works well with 3DS 2.1.0-4E firmware. The firmware 2.1.0-4 E does nothing extra but blocking flashcarts. The frequent firmware updates for DSi and 3DS for the past few months have caught many off guard. The firmware 2.1.0.4 is the best example. The 3DS official announcement says:
