iPlayer Update Process for the DSi 1.4 Update

August 16th, 2010 Filed Under DS iPlayer

Special thanks to 4coolday.com for providing the review sample. This video details the update process for the iPlayer flash cart. The update will allow the iPlayer to work on DSi consoles with the 1.4 update. Clearly this method is the most unique, and easily my favorite method to update, but unfortunately I was one of the first ones to test the waters, and hit a few mistakes along the way. Thankfully, where I suffered, you guys can benefit from my mistakes. Read full article and written instructions at: dsdatabase.org Download files at: soft.dsiplayer.com

    @Karilands

When you open up the root of the MicroSD, you should see folders lime moonshl2, system, etc (this is off the top of my head, sorry!). It’s not the eng folder or whatever the default download has. So you unzip and then take the inside of that folder and put them in the root.

    can you help me?

I downloaded the latest iPlayer OS, unzipped it, and copied it to the microDS, then inserted the microDS into the iPlayer card, then inserted the iPlayer card into a DSi, the powered up the DSi.
    The iPlayer logo/button was visible.
    I selected the iPlayer logo/button.
An error message apeared on the top screen.
    NO FIND SYSTEM FILES
What exactly is supposed to be in the root directory of the microDS card? Which files?
Are the subfolders supposed to be on the card as well?

some sites offer options to purchase a microSD with the iPlayer. No, you CAN NOT play NDS roms on it.

If the NDSi firmware is v1.4, Please copy the upgrade firm into MicroSD. When NDSi screen display
    ” An error has occurred
    Press and hold the POWER
Button to turn the system off
Please refer to the Nintendo DSi
    Operations Manual for details.”
*When this message displayed, please wait 2 mins, iPlayer is upgrading. (If turn off power at this moment, iPlayer will dead).
*After 2 mins, iPlayer is upgraded.

Oh Bollox, that would just be my luck, how could that have happened though from just copying the file over. Could you let me have the exact file I should have – I’ve been rather confused about all this adding Korean language and stuff so not done any of that to it. Help, don’t want to have to buy a new iplayer card already.

Uhhhhhhh, you are in BIG trouble. It seems like you may have messed up the update. If loading the update file directly on the root of your MicroSD and running it on the DS Lite doesn’t work, you may have permanently broken your iPlayer.

Ive downloaded the OS as per instructions but my screens are showing error codes

DSi – An error has occurred. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for details

DSL – NO FIND SYSTEM FILES

Help, what am I doing wrong.

You’re going to have to be a little more specific than that. Is it a contact problem? Update problem? Or perhaps it just won’t boot?

Technically yes and no. You see, the one typing this reply is PharaohsVizier, but I’m using one of my moderator’s YouTube account, so if he was the one to reply… it would be a no. XD

Errr you should see my other video with the AceKard, I think I had 8 there that day, 4 Supercard DS ONEi, 1 iPlayer, 1 R4 and 1 M3i Zero.

I got the iPlayer as a review sample from 4CoolDay, I think they have the cheapest price around at $37, although I think DX might be a dollar or two cheaper, but you have to wait ages for DX to ship it out. The case was from focalprice, it is pretty good, but it sort of blocks the L and R buttons a little.
